20 California students become sick after nearby jail’s tear gas training, sheriff says

Twenty students at an elementary school in California grew to become sick Tuesday after they have been uncovered to tear gas and pepper spray that drifted onto their campus.

The chemical compounds drifted to Portola Elementary School in San Bruno throughout a coaching train the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office was doing on the nearby San Bruno Jail, in response to ABC 7.

The sheriff’s workplace mentioned it was conducting an indoor coaching session with the chemical brokers on the jail when tear gas from the coaching moved exterior and over to the college, which is positioned a mile away.

Students and lecturers felt the burning of their eyes, nostril and throat.

The sheriff’s workplace mentioned this has by no means occurred throughout 20 years of coaching on the jail.

“We sincerely apologize to Portola Elementary School, its faculty and students, and their families for this unforeseen event which must have been especially scary for children,” the sheriff’s workplace mentioned.
