To be considered for this award, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5, be sophomore-level or higher, and participate in most games. For pitchers, there are additional requirements, such as a minimum of 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.
This accolade adds to Garcia’s impressive offseason, as she was also named to the WCC’s All-Academic Team. She’s a graduate with a degree in English and has shown remarkable talent on the field, being selected for the WCC’s second team.
After her time with the Beavers, Garcia took a step into professional sports, joining the Cangrejeras de Santurce in Puerto Rico. In 2025, she excelled as a pitcher, recording 94 strikeouts and achieving at least five strikeouts in nine games. One of her standout moments was during her last road series, where she achieved a career-high of 10 strikeouts.
Garcia’s journey is an inspiring example of balancing academics and sports, demonstrating that hard work in both areas can lead to success. As Ellie progresses in her career, she exemplifies the spirit of student-athletes who strive for excellence both on and off the field.
