Shyam Benegal studied at Nizam College of Osmania University in Hyderabad. He accomplished his publish commencement in Economics from this faculty. It was from right here that he began a film society. Shyam Benegal was struggling from critical kidney illness.

Awarded with Padmashree and Padma Bhushan

Film director Shyam Benegal was awarded Padma Shri in 1976 and Padma Bhushan in 1991. On 8 August 2007, he was given the highest honor of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke Award (yr 2005). Apart from this, he’s a seven-time National Film Award winner for Best Feature Film in Hindi Cinema.
