Amid the continued water crisis within the metropolis, 22 families have been fined ₹5,000 every by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board for violating its order of using potable water for non-essential purposes.
The order was issued almost two weeks in the past and the motion was taken based mostly on a number of complaints acquired by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) by way of social media, officers stated.
According to BWSSB, it has collected ₹1.1 lakh high-quality from 22 such households for flouting its order and using potable water for washing automobiles, gardening and different non-essential purposes amid scarcity of water particularly in sure elements of the town.
As per the info shared by the board, most of those violators have been from the southeastern division. At least 12 such complaints have been acquired from the actual division and a complete of ₹60,000 was collected as a high-quality from these violators. Similarly, ₹15,000 high-quality was collected from the East division whereas one other ₹Rs 15,000 money was collected from the Southwestern division amongst others.
On March 7, the BWSSB had issued an order prohibiting utilization of potable water within the metropolis of Bengaluru for cleansing automobiles, building of buildings and roads, for leisure purposes or decorations like fountains.
Malls and cinema halls have been permitted to make use of water solely for consuming.
‘’In case of violation of the order, a high-quality of ₹5,000 will likely be relevant for the primary time offence and recurrence of this violation will lead to a high-quality of ₹5,000 with an extra penalty of ₹500 per day,’‘ it stated.
The public were urged to use water judiciously and immediately inform the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s name centre 1916 if anybody was discovered violating the prohibitory order.
