BJP Councillor Shot Dead By Terrorists In J&K’s Pulwama

A BJP chief and municipal councillor was shot useless by terrorists at the moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Rakesh Pandita was at his buddy’s dwelling in Pulwama’s Tral space when three terrorists barged in and opened fireplace, mentioned sources within the police.

While Mr Pandita died on the spot, a girl recognized as Asifa Mushtaq was injured within the assault. She is present process therapy at a hospital in Srinagar and her situation is learnt to be crucial.

Police mentioned the BJP chief had been supplied Personal Security Officers (PSO) and was lodged at a resort in Srinagar to make sure his security, however he went to Tral with out the safety personnel.

“#Terrorists shot dead one councillor namely Rakesh Pandita in #Tral. Despite provided 02 PSOs & secured hotel accommodation in Srinagar, the said councillor went to Tral without PSOs. Area cordoned off & search is going on. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police mentioned in a tweet.

Following the incident, the workplace of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha mentioned in a press release, “Saddened to hear about the terror attack on Councillor Rakesh Pandita at Tral, Pulwama. I strongly condemn the attack. My condolences to the bereaved family in this time of grief.” 

“Terrorists will never succeed in their nefarious designs, and those responsible for such heinous acts shall be brought to justice,” the assertion added.

Former Chief Minister and president of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her condolences and mentioned such acts of “senseless violence” have “only brought misery” to the folks.

“Shocked to hear that BJP leader Rakesh Pandit has been shot dead by militants. These senseless acts of violence have brought only misery to J&K. My condolences to the family & may his soul rest in peace,” she mentioned in a tweet.

Condemning the assault, President of Peoples Conference Sajad Lone tweeted, “Yet again gunmen attack a non combatant. This gun is a curse. Just ponder. Since the day this menace came into Kashmir. What have we seen. In a nut shell total disempowerment of the Kashmiri. Dear gunmen. Can u please go back where u came from. We have had enough.”

Mr Pandita had been elected to the municipal council in Tral unopposed in 2018 after the native polls have been boycotted by the most important regional events of the Valley, the National Conference and the PDP.
