An explosion inside a container on a ship docked at Dubai’s Jebel Ali port late Wednesday precipitated a large fire and was felt throughout town, authorities mentioned.
There have been no reported deaths or accidents and the fire is underneath management, authorities mentioned. “A fire has been reported to have broken out in a container within a ship anchored in Jebel Ali Port. A Dubai Civil Defense team is working to put out the blaze,” Dubai Media Office mentioned in a tweet on their official account.
The Dubai Media Office posted a video of firefighters placing out the blaze on the port.
Several CNN personnel in Dubai mentioned they heard and felt the explosion, which precipitated buildings to shake, as distant as 15 kilometers away from the port. Social media video confirmed a large ball of fire burst from the port space lighting up the evening sky.
Jebel Ali is the ninth largest port on this planet and the most important within the area.
