Breaking: Arrest Made in New Mexico Arson Attacks Targeting Tesla and GOP Headquarters

Authorities in New Mexico have arrested Jamison Wagner, 40, for two recent arson attacks. One incident took place in February at the Tesla showroom in Albuquerque, and the other occurred in March at the Republican Party’s headquarters. Wagner now faces federal charges related to these incidents.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced on social media that the FBI and ATF arrested Wagner based on evidence linking him to both cases. Patel noted that this investigation could have prevented further planned attacks.

On February 9, a fire broke out at the Tesla showroom around 3:15 a.m. Investigators found two damaged Tesla Model Y vehicles parked outside. One vehicle was especially badly burned. A forensic analysis later identified the fire as an intentional act, determined using an incendiary device containing a gel-like substance similar to napalm.

In the second incident, reported on March 30, a fire damaged the Republican Party headquarters. Witnesses noted a strong smell of gasoline, suggesting that this fire was also set deliberately. Disturbingly, graffiti with the phrase “ICE=KKK” was found on the walls, indicating a political motive behind the vandalism.

Across the country, Tesla facilities have seen a rise in targeted attacks. According to a recent FBI announcement, these incidents have spanned at least nine states since early 2025, involving arson, vandalism, and violent threats. Many of these actions appear to stem from strong political sentiments, with perpetrators expressing anti-fascist or anti-racist messages.

Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, described these attacks as “insane and deeply wrong.” He emphasized that Tesla is merely a car company that does not deserve such hostility.

The trend of targeting Tesla and its properties raises concerns about the safety of businesses in politically charged climates. Experts in social psychology warn that such attacks can escalate, leading to more severe consequences for individuals and communities involved.

As society grapples with growing polarization, it’s crucial to foster dialogue rather than destructive actions. For further reading on the rise of politically motivated violence, you can check out this FBI report.
