Tommy Shelby IS getting the movie therapy. On Tuesday, Netflix introduced that it is going to be premiering a movie adaptation of Peaky Blinders with Cillian Murphy reprising his function as its primary character.
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me … It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with [series creator] Steven Knight and [director] Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders,” Murphy stated in an announcement. “This is one for the fans.”
Harper, who directed a number of episodes of the primary season again in 2013, will return to direct the movie. At the time, Harper stated they “didn’t know what the series would become” when it aired.
“We did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,” Harper added. “Peaky has always been a story about family – and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
The movie will function a continuation to the sequence that follows the Peaky Blinders crime gang following World War I. The present featured appearances from Joe Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Paul Anderson. Aside from Murphy, t’s at present unclear who might be solid for the movie model.
The movie was co-written by Knight, who can be producing. David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason are among the many government producers.
“I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen,” Knight stated. “It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full on Peaky Blinders at war.”
Murphy teased the chance of a movie in a Rolling Stone interview final 12 months. “If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it,” Murphy stated on the time. “But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last season. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.”
