Two car shows in the Central Okanagan went head-to-head on Sunday, competing for automobiles and guests.

In West Kelowna, car fans gathered at Kinsmen Athletic Park for World of Wheels, an occasion that was yearly held in Peachland throughout the May lengthy weekend till organizers and the city couldn’t discover frequent floor this previous winter.

Not lengthy after World of Wheels introduced it was pulling up its lengthy-established stakes from lovely Beach Avenue and relocating to West Kelowna, Peachland determined it, too, was going to carry a May lengthy weekend car present.

The Peachland Classic Car Show was organized by the Peachland Chamber of Commerce and a few volunteers.

“It’s a huge deal for Peachland. We’re so thrilled with the way our residents and business community stepped up to really keep the car show in our town,” stated Jonathan Wall, president of the Peachland Chamber of Commerce.

“And we’re thrilled with the turnout today.”

The Peachland car present, which was celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary, exceeded 250 vehicles, with West Kelowna showcasing between 150 and 200 automobiles.

In Peachland, the car present centered on vehicles that had been 25 years or older.

“Our businesses know the value of the May long weekend, and having the car show on Sunday is the kickoff to their summer season,” Wall stated. “So it’s big for them.”

While Peachland’s car present stretched for blocks alongside Beach Avenue, West Kelowna’s was extra compact and featured meals vehicles and a youngsters’ play space.

“We love that it’s all in one area. You can stand in one spot and see everything,” World of Wheels president Pam Cunningham instructed Global News whereas an Elvis impersonator performed in the background.

“It’s been wonderful. The weather was a little sketchy, but you know what? It’s been great.”
