Pig Progress will participate in VIV Asia 2025 by hosting two engaging seminars focused on current challenges in pig farming. One key topic will be “gut health,” discussed in a seminar happening at 4 PM in room Jupiter 7 at the Impact showgrounds in Bangkok, Thailand.
This 90-minute session features four experienced speakers who will share their insights on gut health and its importance in swine production.
Asst Prof Dr Alongkot Boonsoongnern, Kasetsart University, Thailand
Asst Prof Dr Alongkot Boonsoongnern from Kasetsart University will start the seminar. He will explain why gut health is crucial for pigs and how it can help reduce antibiotic use in Southeast Asia. His talk will cover effective management of gilts and sows, as well as the role of creep feed and its connection to gut bacteria and enzyme levels.
Yoko Noguchi, IFF
Next, Yoko Noguchi, the technical service manager for North Asia at IFF, will discuss how to enhance piglet performance through better health. She will highlight how probiotics can achieve a balanced gut microbiota, leading to improved overall health in piglets.
Dr Rutger Jansen, Boehringer Ingelheim
Dr Rutger Jansen from Boehringer Ingelheim will follow up with a presentation on innovative vaccination methods. His focus will be on a gel-based vaccination method that simplifies the process of oral immunization for pigs before weaning.
