Discover Sony’s Groundbreaking AI Technology Showcased by Horizon’s Aloy – A Must-See Adventure!

Sony is exploring new AI technology by featuring Aloy from the Horizon games.

A recent YouTube video showcases this AI version of Aloy. The video is presented by Sharwin Raghoebardajal, a director at Sony Interactive Entertainment. He specializes in gaming tech, AI, and character technology.

In the video, Raghoebardajal chats with AI-Aloy, starting with a friendly hello and asking about her well-being.

“Hello, I’m managing alright,” Aloy responds in a flat tone. “Just dealing with a sore throat. How have you been?”

They discuss Aloy’s journey, including her search for her mother. Aloy reflects, “I discovered I’m a clone of Dr. Elizabeth Sobeck, which helped me understand my purpose.”

When asked what it’s like to be a clone, she responds with unsettling mouth movements. “Being a clone feels unique, linking me to the past while letting me shape my future,” she says.

Later, Raghoebardajal asks Aloy to guide him into the game world.

“Sure, we’ll transition to the game world now, get ready for the adventure,” Aloy replies. However, her tone lacks excitement.

The scene shifts to Horizon Forbidden West, where Raghoebardajal continues the conversation. Aloy states they’re at The Scalding Spear, a settlement near Arrowhand.

According to Raghoebardajal, AI technology is behind Aloy’s facial movements, her speech, and even her voice. Interestingly, this AI version does not sound like Ashly Burch, the original voice actress for Aloy. Burch has publicly supported measures to protect voice actors from AI exploitation.

While this article was being written, the video was taken down from YouTube due to a copyright claim by Muso TNT Ltd., a company focused on content protection. The reason for the removal remains unclear.

Even though the video is gone, The Verge has shared a gif capturing the demo’s highlights.

Raghoebardajal mentioned that this AI demonstration is simply a preview of future possibilities.
