On a sad note, Osito, a Michelin-starred restaurant, will close its doors after this weekend. Chef Seth Stowaway cited high rent as a major factor, stating that negotiations with the landlord did not lead to a feasible solution.

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Humble Sea Brewing Co. has opened its new beer garden at Pier 39. This venue mirrors their popular Santa Cruz location. Currently, they are offering drinks only, with plans to open fully by Memorial Day. Operating hours will be Friday to Sunday for now.

Over at 1500 Broadway, the former Rouge nightclub is becoming Sabor Gaucho, a Brazilian steakhouse. Although the owners claim no direct relation to the chain of the same name, they do have connections to the popular Fogo de Chão. Sabor Gaucho aims to stand out with unique offerings, including oysters at the salad bar and sushi dishes.

In a pleasant surprise, the beloved North Beach restaurant Steps of Rome is back after more than a decade. The family behind nearby Mona Lisa has revived the name and is serving classic Italian dishes such as lasagna and Roman pasta. There’s ample outdoor seating at their new location on Columbus Avenue.

Additionally, a fresh twist on Northern Indian vegetarian cuisine has emerged with Jalebi Street, which recently opened at 1466 Haight Street. The menu showcases a variety of chaat, samosas, and hearty entrees like saag paneer. The young couple behind the restaurant plans a grand opening soon but is currently serving on paper plates.

While there’s no new restaurant review this week, local expert Camper English is generating buzz with a feature on the best Dirty Martini variations in the city. Notably, Causwells’ Filthy Martini has earned top marks for its olive brine and unique ingredients.
