Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona showcases an exciting lineup of smartphones each year. But it’s also the go-to spot for wearable tech companies to present their latest gadgets. One notable name is TCL, traditionally known for its TVs, now making waves with its smart glasses, the RayNeo X3 Pro.
In the smart glasses arena, competition is growing strong. The RayNeo X3 Pro offers features that outshine more basic options like the Meta Ray-Bans. Unlike those, the X3 Pro includes screens in the lenses that employ wave guide technology for clear projections.

The glasses feature a micro-LED light engine with a 2,500-nit full-color display, making it easy to see even in bright sunlight. I tried them on at MWC, but since we were inside a dim convention center, I couldn’t test the clarity outdoors. However, I found the display at a comfortable height, ensuring an unobstructed view.

During a demo, I watched as the front-facing camera translated surrounding text into French using AI. While it worked well, the crowded hall made it hard to assess the live conversation feature. The built-in AI agent currently only supports Chinese but should be available in English when the glasses launch internationally in mid-May, priced around $2,000.

The X3 Pro is lighter than earlier models, weighing just 3 ounces. They felt comfortable on my average-sized head, though they did look a bit big. I found the gesture controls on the arms intuitive and responsive, which is impressive for smart glasses.

TCL aims to balance style, comfort, and functionality with the X3 Pros. They represent a strong vision of what augmented reality glasses can be, blending digital and real-world views. One key aspect we couldn’t assess at the show is battery life, which will be crucial in deciding if these glasses are worth the investment.
