Discover the Ultimate Customizable Sandbox: Inside Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Exciting New Hideout!
Ubisoft has revealed exciting details about the Hideout feature for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This new addition will provide players with a “fully customizable sandbox” to explore while completing achievements. Previous Assassin’s Creed titles have offered bases, but this feature marks a first for the series.

Ubisoft details Hideout feature for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

  • The Hideout is the series’ first fully customizable area.
  • AC Shadows launches on March 20.
  • It’ll be available for Xbox Series X|S.

With the Hideout, players will have an expansive area to personalize. It unlocks after the prologue and is set in a valley within the Izumi Settsu province. You can add everything from buildings and ponds to animals and plants. Inside, there are options for decorating with armor sets and other items. Decorations can be earned as rewards, purchased from merchants, or found in enemy territories.

Building the Hideout involves key rooms that can be constructed and upgraded for beneficial purposes. The Forge helps improve gear, while the Dojo is where allies can be trained. There are also rooms that provide stat boosts, like the Tera altar for increased XP earning.

Your recruited allies will wander around the Hideout, using its facilities and chatting. Initially, you can only accommodate a few, but that changes as you progress.

To build everything, you’ll need to gather wood, minerals, and crops, as well as accumulate some funds. The Hideout is linked to the broader game, allowing players to loot resources while exploring and tagging larger stockpiles for their scouts to collect later.

Heidi’s Take —

I’m excited about the Assassin’s Creed twist on Animal Crossing-style gameplay!

Compared to the settlement in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the Hideout offers much more freedom. Valhalla allowed upgrades but had limited choices for where to place things. The new freestyle layout is an improvement, giving players the ability to connect rooms and create unique paths. Пlus, it’s fun to place armor as decoration! However, I hope there will be more interior decoration options, such as different paintings.

Having animals around the Hideout is a neat touch! I enjoyed the Sumi-e activity of quietly painting pets in the preview, and now knowing we can have tanukis and baby deer adds an enticing reason to explore and paint everything.

Overall, the Hideout feels like a perfect evolution for the series and an exciting way to enhance gameplay. I’m looking forward to seeing how it blends customization with the classic Assassin’s Creed experience.
