The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday launched raids at premises linked to former Punjab Cabinet Minister and Congress chief Bharat Bhushan Ashu and a few others as a part of a money laundering investigation, official sources mentioned.
About 10 premises in Ludhiana and close by places are being searched by the ED officers beneath the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED probe is linked to alleged irregularities and allegations of receiving kickbacks via conduits for compromising tender for meals procurement and transportation, its high quality and circumstances.
The PMLA case is predicated on a Punjab vigilance bureau FIR.
Mr. Ashu is a former Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Punjab.
