In honor of International Women’s Day, this Friday, March 8, the Evanston History Center will host a presentation from 1 to 2 p.m. by Kathleen Alonso, Jane Driscoll, and Joan Shurtliff, longtime Evanston History Center docents and volunteers. The presenters can be sharing their analysis into the fascinating tales of the girls whose portraits grace the partitions of the inside of the Dawes House.
From the Revolutionary War to the progress of Chicago, the Dawes household was marked by, and made its mark, on the occasions of the time. The painted likenesses of Charles and Caro Dawes’ feminine ancestors, from Mehitable Dawes (b. 1751) to Carolyn Dawes Ericson (b. 1892), solely trace at the actual girls’s fascinating life tales. Hear how the girls serenely watching us from their portraits contributed to the world round them, leaving a legacy for individuals who got here afterwards.
The occasion is free however RSVP is required on account of capability limitations. A $10 steered donation is welcome to assist the Evanston History Center’s free public packages.
