Instead, everything, including the game and the Upgrade Pack, will be included directly on the Nintendo Switch 2 Game Card. This means the card is exclusively compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2—no backward compatibility for regular Switch users.
In fact, product listings on the Japanese My Nintendo Store echo this information, stating clearly that these games will only work on the Nintendo Switch 2. This aligns with language used for other titles in this edition, such as the upcoming Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.
Set to launch on June 5, 2025, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2. Players who already own the game on the original Switch can buy the Upgrade Pack, adding new features and improved graphics.
