Excerpts…

You have bagged your third National Award this 12 months. How a lot do these recognitions imply to you?
No matter how a lot you consider in the award system, the fundamental courtesy is that if you get recognised for one thing, you simply bow down, and be grateful for it. That is what I do. I know that subsequent day will probably be difficult differently, there will probably be a brand new character to do justice to, I will probably be following a special director’s imaginative and prescient and making an attempt to present my 200 per cent to it.

I consider appearing is one of the trickiest jobs and the craft is never-ending. Despite studying all of your life, you’ll nonetheless really feel like a newcomer. Awards are a superb event to only say thanks to everybody who has supported you in no matter approach potential. That is how I take it.

What is the fondest reminiscence you might have of the film shoot?
It was a really difficult shoot. We solely had ten days of shoot money. We determined to only go forward with it and then determine how we’d prepare for extra money whereas we had been taking pictures it. I keep in mind taking pictures the Ganpati sequence throughout the procession of Lalbaugcha Raja and no person recognised me. Director Devashish Makhija deliberate the complete shoot. It was very impeccable and mesmerising. One ought to watch the film in order to see how such sequences could be pulled off.

All the chawl sequences are so genuine and plausible. Every day was difficult in phrases of efficiency as a result of it was a difficult efficiency to tug off. After each shot, I went into my van and known as potential buyers. I was making an attempt to place in some money into the film. We didn’t have money to finish the shoot, we had sufficient solely for ten days. This is one of the the explanation why I am so proud of it. On the set I was dealing with one of the most difficult characters of my life and off the set I was arranging money for the film. The journey of ‘Bhonsle’ has been so wonderful. All these reminiscences won’t fade away quickly.

What is the greatest praise you obtained for your efficiency in ‘Bhonsle’?
The greatest second was when I bagged the Best Actor award for ‘Bhonsle’ at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia. That is the largest and the most difficult award to win. I received the award for the second time after ‘Aligarh’. It was the most memorable time for me.

One of the jury members met me after the award and stated that it’s difficult to recognise the actor who was taking the award for the efficiency that he has given. He informed me that when he noticed me taking the award on the stage, he didn’t consider I was the identical actor they noticed in the film. He stated he was amused by the undeniable fact that my gestures, postures and expressions in the film had been nothing like my actual self. This was coming from one of the jury members there. When you hear these feedback coming from veterans, from the greatest in the enterprise, you actually really feel that you’re doing one thing proper with your craft and justice with your journey.
