On March 7, 2025, ACU’s International Student Association (ISA) hosted an exciting International Food and Fashion Festival. This event aimed to showcase the rich tapestry of cultures present on campus.

Students from various backgrounds joined forces to create a festival where they could share their traditional foods and customs. The ISA collaborated with other cultural groups, such as the African Students Association and the Asian Student Organization, to bring this event to life.

This year, the ISA introduced a fashion show, allowing students to display traditional attire from their cultures. “This festival lets us try foods from different places,” said Tyla Thompson, a junior psychology major from Killeen. “By adding fashion, it deepens our appreciation for these cultures. You not only get to taste the food but also see the beautiful outfits.”

Tyla participated in the fashion show, modeling clothing from the Philippines. Although she isn’t Filipino, she enjoyed the chance to represent the culture. “I believe it’s important to learn about other cultures,” she shared. “You don’t have to be from a specific background to appreciate it. America is built on a mix of cultures, and understanding this diversity enriches our lives.”

Everyone is welcome to join the festival, regardless of their cultural background. Tyla encourages all students to get involved and assures them that they will not be judged for their heritage. “Just come and enjoy the experience!”
