FBI’s Most Wanted Indian-Origin Drug Lord Captured in Ludhiana: Punjab Police Report

Chandigarh: Punjab police have arrested an international drug dealer, Shehnaz Singh, also known as Shawn Bhinder, in Ludhiana. He was wanted by the FBI for a massive drug operation in the United States.

Bhinder has been running a transportation business in Canada since 2014. However, authorities allege he was using this business to transport drugs from Colombia to the U.S. and Canada, passing through Mexico.

After a major crackdown by the FBI, Bhinder managed to evade capture and returned to India. The Punjab police, led by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, tracked him down in Ludhiana.

The FBI’s operation on February 26, 2025, led to the arrest of six of Bhinder’s associates. They seized a staggering 391 kg of methamphetamine, 109 kg of cocaine, and four firearms.

The arrested associates included individuals identified by various aliases, such as Amritpal Singh and Fernando Valladares. Their capture coincided with Punjab’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign against drugs, which began on February 25.

Bhinder is also wanted in a separate case involving the Arms Act, linked to an incident in December 2024 where police arrested members of a notorious gang. Investigations reveal that Bhinder played a significant role in smuggling large amounts of drugs using trucks and trailers.

During interrogations, police learned that Bhinder’s operation transported around 600 kg of cocaine weekly from Colombia. His network appears to be connected to some well-known drug traffickers, and investigations are currently ongoing.
