The eight-woman Olympic squad, two of whom may also compete in the duet, was confirmed for the Paris Olympic Games on Friday in Townsville.

Tokyo Olympians Rayna Buckle and Kiera Gazzard return for their second Games, whereas Anastasia Kusmawan, Georgia Courage-Gardiner, Milena Waldmann, Margo Joseph-Kuo, Raphaelle Gauthier and Zoe Poulis will debut.

The group consists of athletes balancing full-time coaching and common worldwide competitors with examine in structure, engineering, training and paramedics.

And, in a self-discipline dominated by Russia since Sydney’s 2000 Games, they’re doing it higher than any Australian group earlier than them.

Coached by Spain’s 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Paula Klamberg, the group notched its highest rating to end eighth in the ladies’s group technical at February’s World Championships in Doha.

It additionally received three medals at China’s World Cup final month and completed fourth in the group free self-discipline in the Paris Cup earlier this month.

“It’s so special,” Gazzard mentioned.
