Jaydon Hibbert Breaks World U20 Triple Jump Record

On June 1, 2024, Jamaican athlete Jaydon Hibbert set a new world U20 triple jump record at 17.75 meters in Kingston. This remarkable achievement has been officially recognized by World Athletics.

Today, as he turns 20, Hibbert celebrates this milestone. He improved upon his previous record of 17.66m, which he set just a year ago in Monaco. In Kingston, Hibbert started with a jump of 16.45m. He then jumped 17.14m and 17.30m in the next rounds before reaching his record-setting leap of 17.75m in the fourth round.

“I was satisfied with my last jumps,” Hibbert said after his record. “I feel amazing. I aimed for 17.70m, so achieving 17.75m feels like a bonus.”

Later, Hibbert competed in the Olympic final in Paris, where he finished fourth with a jump of 17.61m, just missing the bronze by three centimeters.

His impressive performance in Kingston placed him third on the world top list for 2024, behind Olympic medalists Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortun and Pedro Pichardo. Due to his achievements this year, Hibbert is also nominated for the Men’s Rising Star award at the World Athletics Awards.
