Imperial strengthens ties with University of Ghana

The partnership will construct on Imperial’s work with universities and policymakers within the area, growing analysis and academic packages in areas reminiscent of public well being, entrepreneurship, sustainability and vaccine manufacturing.

Imperial, which not too long ago scored a surprise second place within the QS World University Rankings, has long-standing hyperlinks with the University of Ghana and is dedicated to growing long-term collaborations in Africa, in line with Brady.  

High visa rejection rates are impacting the power of many African college students to check overseas. The new settlement will improve mobility alternatives for employees and college students in London and Accra, engaged on joint initiatives and sharing information in one another’s laboratories.

“The respected QS world university rankings ranked Imperial as number one in the UK and second in the world and UG is happy to be associated with such an institution as a partner and collaborator,” stated Professor Felix Ankomah Asante, UG professional vice-chancellor 

The settlement was introduced on the University of Ghana in Accra in June, throughout a go to by Imperial employees together with vp of worldwide, Maggie Dallman.  

Dallman met Ghanaian pupil entrepreneurs participating within the pupil enterprise assist program, created in 2021 in collaboration with Imperial and the British Council to encourage college students to show modern concepts into worthwhile companies.

During the go to, Imperial hosted an occasion for scientists, policymakers and alumni to highlight the impression of local weather change on African cities and the healthcare inequalities confronted by hundreds of thousands of city-dwellers in Accra and Tamale.  

Imperial professor Mike Templeton highlighted the necessity for equal entry to sustainable sanitation, which is an space the 2 universities are already collecting data and collaborating on.
