Jazz comes from the most impoverished of backgrounds, with roots in the painful era of slavery. From such humble beginnings, it has flourished and it still continues to evolve today.”
It actually has. Emanating from the mists of ache in New Orleans, jazz has reached far-flung corners of the globe resembling Indonesia, Switzerland and Australia. This 12 months, artistes from Germany, South Korea and Serbia are a part of Banyan Tree’s World Jazz Festival in Bengaluru. Launched in 2020, the intention of Mumbai-based Banyan Tree’s World Jazz Festival was to deliver world-class jazz to India, says Nandini Mahesh, one in all its administrators. Following the success of their debut efficiency in Bengaluru final 12 months, their lineup this time contains the Sven Rozier Quintet from South Korea that includes Lizzy Ossevoort and Baer Traa from the Netherlands, in addition to the Susanne Alt band from Germany and the Lucas Santana Quintet of the Brazilian Experience.

The second version of the Bengaluru Jazz Habba might be held on the Koramangala Club on April 30. Apart from performances by the Rajeev Raja Jazz Combine from Mumbai, the Rex Rozario Quintet and the Gerard Machado Trio, jazz workshops might be held as effectively.
For Jagdeesh, crucial factor about jazz is, “its message of universal peace and an openness to embrace all cultures by fostering creativity and goodwill.”
