J-K Police sets up SIT to probe killings of civilians outside Army camp in Rajouri

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has constituted a particular investigating workforce (SIT) to probe the killing of two civilians in a firing incident outside an Army camp in Rajouri district, official sources stated.

The killings of two civilians and accidents to one other on Friday lead to large protests with individuals demanding a good probe into the incident.

While the Army had stated in a tweet that some “unidentified terrorists” had began firing on the camp, eyewitnesses claimed a sentry posted on the gate opened hearth at approaching locals, ensuing in the casualties.

The sources stated the police on Monday night time set up an SIT headed by a gazette-rank police officer to probe the incident.

The SIT has been constituted by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri Poonch vary, Haseeb Mughal, they stated.

The SIT will work underneath the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, Mohammad Aslam and will likely be headed by Deputy SP (headquarters), Rajouri, Chanchal Singh. Its members will likely be Inspector Danish Maqbool, Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) Jatinder Sharma and two head constables, the sources stated.

The SIT has been requested to replace day to day progress of investigation with the vary police headquarters, they stated.

The workforce will examine the incident of firing that occurred on the Alfa gate of the Army camp in the Phalyana space of Rajouri city in which two native males Surinder Kumar and Kamal Kumar, each residents of ward 15 Phalyana, acquired killed, whereas Anil Kumar from Uttrakhand was injured and is underneath remedy in Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, the sources stated.
