BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern University is preparing to honor one of its students, Caleb Wilson, who passed away tragically. He was just 20 years old, a junior studying mechanical engineering, and a proud member of the famous Human Jukebox band.
Caleb reportedly died after a hazing incident while pledging Omega Psi Phi. He was punched in the chest and collapsed soon after. This shocking event has left many in the community heartbroken.
To remember Caleb, his family will host a public memorial at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Friday, March 14. The viewing will take place from noon to 5 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life.
Chancellor John K. Pierre spoke about Caleb, saying, “He was a bright light in Jaguar Nation. His kindness and passion touched many lives. We gather to celebrate his life and legacy with his family during this difficult time.”
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Kenner.
