Lando Norris edges Max Verstappen for pole at Spanish Grand Prix

MONTMELÓ, Spain — Lando Norris snatched pole place from Max Verstappen throughout qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday.

Norris grabbed his second profession pole with a late run that simply edged the three-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton will begin third, simply forward of Mercedes teammate George Russell. Ferrari pair Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are subsequent.

It was a busy morning for Norris after his McLaren staff needed to evacuate its hospitality suite due to a fireplace shortly earlier than follow began.

Norris earned his first profession victory in May when he received in Miami. He began that race from fifth.

“It was pretty much a perfect lap, so I am super, super happy,” Norris stated. “We have been close the past two months, ever since Miami. We probably missed out on pole because we didn’t do that perfect lap. We made some changes on the final lap and found the room to improve.”

Pole sitters have received 24 of the 33 F1 races held at the 4.6-kilometre (2.8-mile) monitor positioned simply north of Barcelona.

Verstappen holds a 56-point lead over Leclerc within the drivers’ standings.
