A day after Rahul Gandhi was sentenced in a 2019 criminal defamation case, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on March 24 stated authorized processes are used far too often for political ends and each the method and the result are “bizarre”.

A courtroom in Surat on March 23 sentenced Mr. Gandhi to 2 years within the case filed towards him over his “Modi surname” remarks. The courtroom additionally granted him bail and suspended the sentence for 30 days to permit him to enchantment in a better courtroom.

Reacting to the event, Mr. Sibal stated, “Rahul Gandhi, sentenced for 2 years for defamation. Legal processes are used far too often for political ends!
