Manipur police officer kidnapped by armed assailants, rescued in hours

Additional superintendent of police for the Imphal west district, Moirangthem Amit Singh, was rescued after being kidnapped by armed assailants on Tuesday night time.

The abduction, allegedly carried out by an armed group recognized because the Arambai Tenggol, occurred when the attackers stormed the officer’s residence on Tuesday.

Mr. Amit was on official responsibility when he obtained info that his dwelling had been raided. While dashing again to his dwelling, the attackers intercepted the police celebration close to Wangkhei in Imphal east district.

Police have detained eight suspects and an inquiry is underway.
