The stench emanating from a storm water drain that carries waste water in Reddiyarpalayam is making life miserable for these residing in Sivagami Nagar, Morisson Thottam and areas on the facet of Villupuram Road.

We have informed about the smell and mosquito menace to officials of Oulgaret Municipality, but to no avail,” stated M. Ravichandran, one other resident.

A piece of residents stated that the municipal workers after eradicating the silt from the drain dumped it on the roadside. The silt has now change into a breeding floor for mosquitoes and the menace will get out of hand in the evenings. The drain has change into a significant well being hazard, they stated.

A senior official stated that residents had been to be blamed for the choked drain. A piece of residents have been illegally letting out sewage and dumping stable waste in the drain. The native physique would quickly undertake cleansing of the drain, he stated.
