Pakistani Woman Seeks Help Over Husband’s New Marriage in India

In the backdrop of ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a woman from Karachi, Nikita, is pleading with Indian authorities. She wants them to stop her husband, Vikram Kumar Nagdev, a Pakistani national living in Indore, from marrying another woman. She’s also asking for his deportation back to Karachi.

Nikita sent a WhatsApp message to the Indian administration detailing her situation. After this, the local Sindhi Panchayat wrote to the Indore collector to recommend Vikram’s deportation.

Nikita and Vikram married in Karachi on January 26, 2020. A month later, they moved to Indore together but separated when she returned to Karachi due to her short-term visa. Nikita claims she has tried to persuade Vikram to either visit her in Karachi or return there, but he refused. Recently, she learned through social media that Vikram is engaged to Shivangi Dhingra from Delhi.

On January 15, Nikita reached out to the Sindhi Panch Mediation and Legal Consultancy Centre in Indore, exploring legal options against Vikram. The Panchayat suggested she come to India to file a case, but Nikita prefers to resolve the matter in Pakistan, given that their marriage took place there.

Kishore Kodwani, a social worker in the Sindhi community, expressed concern over Vikram’s situation. He mentioned that Vikram runs a sizable business in Indore and has purchased property without the necessary permissions. Kodwani believes it would be best for the case to be settled in a Karachi court, stating that Vikram should face deportation according to Indian laws.

When contacted, Vikram denied Nikita’s claims. He explained that he has been living in India on a long-term visa for twelve years and that Nikita had chosen to return to Karachi. He accused her of having an affair, which he suggests led to her quick departure during the pandemic and her reluctance to return.
