House Republicans are making ready to scrutinize an govt order by President Biden on the usage of “project labor agreements” that critics name a “radical departure” from typical aggressive contracting procedures.
Project labor agreements, or PLAs, are pre-hire collective bargaining pacts negotiated between unions and building contractors to set up phrases of employment, in accordance to the Labor Department.
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., the chairwoman of the House Oversight Committee’s subcommittee on cybersecurity, IT and authorities innovation, mentioned that by mandating PLAs, the White House has “no qualms about using the federal contracting process and taxpayer dollars to bestow favors on political allies… instead of enabling fair and open competition for federal contract work.”

Ben Brubeck, one of many witnesses on the hearing, is a vice chairman with Associated Builders and Contractors. He and Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority govt director Glenn Ledet and Cianbro vice chairman Aric Dreher all plan to provide equally biting testimony in regards to the results the order may have on their potential to bid for presidency contracts.
