Retail Inflation Rises Sharply Due To Food Prices, Highest In 15 Months

New Delhi:

Retail inflation jumped to a 15-month excessive of seven.44 per cent in July as costs of greens and different meals objects spiked, based on official knowledge launched on Monday.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based mostly inflation was at 4.87 in June and 6.71 per cent in July 2022.

Previously, excessive inflation was recorded at 7.79 per cent in April 2022.

The inflation within the meals basket was 11.51 per cent in July in comparison with 4.55 per cent in June and 6.69 per cent in July 2022, as per the information.

The retail inflation in greens year-on-year was 37.43 per cent whereas the speed of worth rise in ‘cereals and merchandise’ was 13 per cent, confirmed the information launched by the National Statistical Office (NSO).
