Two members of the beloved K-pop group BTS, RM and V, have just finished their mandatory military service. Fans erupted with joy as they received the news! The two greeted fans with salutes and a saxophone performance upon their return.
V encouraged everyone to “wait just a little longer” for the whole group to reunite, which is expected soon. By the end of this month, all seven members will have completed their military service. BTS, who took a break in 2022 at the peak of their fame, are now on the path to coming back stronger than ever.
Many fans, some flying in from far away, gathered outside their agency, Hybe, in central Seoul to celebrate. They wore purple, the color that represents BTS, and held up banners and photos of RM and V.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 must serve in the military for about two years. This ensures that the country is prepared in case of any conflict.
At Hybe, a banner read "We are back," showcasing the logos of BTS and their devoted fanbase known as ARMY (Adorable Representative MC for Youth). Fans expressed their excitement and admiration. Janya, who traveled from the UK, said, "It’s amazing to be in Seoul, where BTS started singing and dancing." Another fan, Hannah from London, shared that she planned her trip two years ago, eagerly anticipating this moment.
During their discharge ceremony in Chuncheon, RM took a moment to thank their fans for their patience. He expressed his eagerness to dive back into music, saying, "Now, I’m ready to hit the ground running again as RM of BTS." V reflected on his military experience, describing it as a time to reset both physically and mentally.
BTS debuted in 2013 but reached new heights with a major U.S. tour in 2017. They blend pop, hip-hop, and R&B, mostly singing in Korean. They are now one of the most-streamed groups globally and the first K-pop act to top various Billboard charts. Their influence goes beyond music; they’ve championed youth issues, supported mental health initiatives with UNICEF, and even addressed the United Nations.
Interestingly, BTS previously received a deferral from military service, allowing them to delay until age 30. Yet, when the time came, they each embraced their duty, solidifying their commitment to the country and their fans.
As anticipation builds for their reunion, fans are more excited than ever. They wait for the next chapter in BTS’s journey, ready to support their favorite idols as they return to the spotlight.
