Sanford Recognized by Fortune as One of America’s Most Innovative Companies: Discover What Sets Them Apart!

For the third year in a row, Sanford Health has made Fortune’s list of “America’s Most Innovative Companies.” This prestigious recognition spotlights 300 companies in the U.S. that are making waves in their industries.

Sanford Health stands out as the only company from South Dakota or North Dakota on the list. Notably, health care dominated this year, with 63 companies making the cut—more than any other sector. Among them are well-known names like Johnson & Johnson, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic.

By fostering a culture of innovation, we’re tackling critical health care challenges like access, quality, and sustainability. We leverage technology to enhance patient care, support our staff, and improve recruitment and retention efforts.”

Leading in Virtual Care

Last fall, Sanford Health launched the Sanford Virtual Care Center in Sioux Falls. This center is the cornerstone of a $350 million virtual care initiative, which includes an education institute with a simulation lab and an innovation center for future care solutions.

Recently, they expanded the use of an artificial intelligence (AI) documentation tool to more clinicians after a successful pilot. Initial results show that 90% of users feel more satisfied with their work, and 95% report less mental strain. Impressively, 80% of those using the tool are likely to stay in their jobs, indicating a positive impact on retention.

Sanford Health is also leading efforts to establish voluntary standards for AI in health care. Gassen was among the first 28 executives to sign a pledge focused on the safe and responsible use of AI technologies.

Fortune’s ranking evaluates companies on three key areas: product innovation, process innovation, and the culture of innovation. Each of these components significantly contributes to a company’s overall score. They collaborated with Statista to develop this ranking.
