The trial, which has now spanned over six weeks, saw the prosecution present evidence from 34 witnesses, including testimonies from two of Combs’ former girlfriends. These women described experiences they labeled “freak-offs” and “hotel nights,” claiming they felt pressured into participating in these events. Combs’ defense argues that their sexual encounters were consensual and align with a swingers lifestyle.

At 55, Combs has maintained his innocence and is currently detained without bail in a federal facility in Brooklyn. Multiple judges have deemed him a potential danger to the community, leading to this decision.

During a standard procedure in federal trials, the judge asked Combs directly if he decided against testifying. Combs affirmed that it was his choice, made after thorough discussions with his lawyers. He even took a moment to compliment Judge Subramanian for his handling of the trial.

The testimonies so far include both employees and associates from Combs’ past. Notably, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another model, known only as “Jane,” detailed their experiences. Ventura, who was in a relationship with Combs for over a decade, voiced how she felt pressured to participate in sexual events. Jane, who was romantically involved with Combs more recently, described similar coercive feelings during her time with him.

So far, the defense has actively engaged in cross-examining witnesses, even relying on recordings that Combs made of the alleged events. This strategy aims to frame the interactions as consensual. Some jurors appeared uncomfortable during the playback of these recordings, yet most did not exhibit strong reactions.

As the trial nears its conclusion, with closing arguments expected soon, the atmosphere remains tense. The legal teams are gearing up for final statements, amidst a backdrop of public interest and scrutiny.
