Seneca County is stepping up its mental health support. The Seneca County Community Counseling Center (SCCCC) has launched a 24/7 Crisis Response Program thanks to a federal grant. This means help is just a call away, typically arriving in about 20 minutes.

In the past year, SCCCC provided almost 39,000 services. That’s a notable increase of 9.25% from the previous year. Alarmingly, nearly one in five of those services were for children and adolescents, highlighting the urgent need for youth mental health support in the community.

The center also secured a $4 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration. This funding will help SCCCC improve care access, aiming for better outcomes for individuals facing behavioral health issues. “We are proud of our work to meet our community’s mental health needs,” said Margaret Morse, Director of Community Services. “Our crisis response team and Evidence-Based treatments are making real differences in people’s lives.”

SCCCC offers a variety of services, including psychiatry for both adults and children, addiction treatment, and crisis intervention. Their dedicated team of clinicians and support staff provides personalized care, ensuring everyone gets the help they need.

Mental health is a pressing issue. According to a recent survey by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, over 1 in 5 adults experienced mental illness in 2021. This shows that places like SCCCC are critical. As communities recognize this, the demand for accessible mental health services will likely keep growing.
