Share Your Vision: City of Penticton Seeks Community Input on the Future of the Esplanade Area

What do you imagine for the east end of Okanagan Lake in the next two decades? The city wants to hear your thoughts. This is the first chance for the community to share ideas about the Esplanade Renewal Plan.

Steven Collyer, who manages housing and policy initiatives for the city, emphasizes that this engagement is about creating a long-term vision. "Understanding what the community wants will help guide the types of amenities we can plan for," he explains. Right now, important archaeological and environmental studies are taking place in the area. The insights from these studies, along with your feedback, will shape the future of this space.

In 2011, initial concepts were drawn up that showed different ways the area could look, mixing natural spaces with development. You can take a look at these concepts to spark your imagination. Check them out here. Keep in mind, these are just ideas to get you thinking about possible amenities.

You can also learn more by attending an on-site workshop on Wednesday, May 28, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. There will be a walking tour at 5:00 pm, along with a chance to review the concepts and provide feedback.

Looking ahead, there will be a second round of public engagement in fall 2025. This will give everyone another chance to share feedback based on what has been discussed and the insights from the ongoing studies.
