Step Up Your Game: New Balance Launches Exciting Basketball Collaboration with LA’s Trendsetting Brand Bricks & Wood

New Balance has recently partnered with Bricks & Wood, introducing a fresh take on their performance shoe line with the launch of the Fresh Foam BB v3. This collaboration brings a vibrant black and yellow design reminiscent of the NBA All-Star Weekend held in San Francisco way back in 2000.

The Fresh Foam BB v3 is not just about looks; it’s crafted for peak performance. The shoe features advanced materials that prioritize comfort, support, and stability. An innovative cushioned heel pocket ensures athletes stay comfortable throughout the game, whether they’re sprinting, jumping, or making sharp cuts. The starting price for this shoe will be $130, with more color options on the way.

Kevin Trotman, New Balance’s product manager, shared insights about the collaboration. He explained that the idea blossomed from a desire to deepen their connection with Bricks & Wood. They wanted to make an impact during All-Star Weekend, especially since it was New Balance’s first participation since 2020. By teaming up with an L.A.-based brand that embodies authentic street culture, New Balance aimed to resonate with a broader audience.

Trotman revealed the significance of the shoe’s colorway choice. The vibrant yellow pays tribute to the Bay Area, while also infusing a modern vibe into the design. He emphasized that capturing a unique and energetic feel was crucial.

One of the standout features of the Fresh Foam BB v3 is its full-length stability plate, which provides a propulsive feeling, enhancing performance during games. Additionally, TPU shanks on the midsole help maintain lateral stability, a critical component for basketball players who need robust support when making sharp movements.

The feedback from testers has been overwhelmingly positive. Players appreciated the plush comfort and softness of the shoe, which has been a trademark of New Balance’s Fresh Foam technology. Despite the added support from the TPU shanks, users did not report any overly stiff or uncomfortable experiences.

Looking ahead, Trotman hinted at expanding their basketball line with more models aimed at various types of players. Their goal is to create a diverse range of options, from high-profile to more accessible designs, while ensuring they stay true to their brand identity.

The collaboration is more than just making shoes; it’s about connecting with the community. New Balance and Bricks & Wood hosted an event for local middle and high school students. Participants engaged in drills, played games, and learned from Kacey Lynch, Bricks & Wood’s owner, who shared his journey in basketball and life. His message centered around finding ways to stay connected to the sport, even if one doesn’t pursue a professional path. This interaction showcased New Balance’s commitment to supporting the culture surrounding basketball and youth engagement.

In a landscape where brands often prioritize speed over substance, New Balance’s approach stands out. By intertwining cutting-edge shoe technology with community involvement and authentic partnerships, they aim to inspire both athletes and future generations.
