EDMONTON — Stuart Skinner is set to take the goal for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights this Saturday at Rogers Place. He steps in for Calvin Pickard, who is nursing a lower-body injury after a 5-4 overtime win in Game 2.

This will be Skinner’s first game since April 23. He had a rough outing then, giving up five goals in a 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Currently, he holds a 6.11 goals-against average (GAA) and an .810 save percentage this postseason.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch expressed confidence in Skinner: “We expect him to perform as he did before. He faced a similar situation last year and reacted well. I believe he’s prepared.”

Pickard enjoyed a six-game winning streak before his injury. He appeared to get hurt when Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl collided with him, just before a crucial tying goal. Despite that, he managed 28 saves in the game.

Pickard’s postseason stats show a GAA of 2.84 and an .888 save percentage. He was effective during the regular season, notching a 22-10-1 record.

“I’ve seen this before, so I feel ready,” Skinner added. “I just want to do my job and give the team a chance to win. The fans will be loud, and that excites me.”
