Tamil Nadu announces 4% hike in DA for State government employees, teachers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Okay. Stalin introduced a 4% improve in the dearness allowance for the State government workers and teachers with impact from New Year’s Day.

In an announcement, he stated the choice adopted representations in this regard. The improve would profit over 16 lakh workers, teachers and pensioners and price the exchequer ₹2,359 crore.

Mr. Stalin additionally introduced that the government would represent a committee headed by the Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department, to look into the ‘equal pay for equal work’ demand of the protesting teachers.

“The government has decided to scrutinise the recommendations of the committee and take action,” Mr. Stalin stated. He additionally appealed to the government workers and teachers to simply accept the hike in the dearness allowance as a New Year reward and co-operate with the government.
