The Congress was firmly within the lead in Chhattisgarh, confirmed early tendencies. But by 11 am, the BJP sneaked up – overtaking its rival.

At 12:45 pm, 4 hours into the counting, the BJP was main in 53 seats, whereas the Congress was at 36.

“The people believed in Modiji’s guarantee, that’s what the trends show. We could see the undercurrent, didn’t know it would be this huge. Bhupesh Baghel has been rejected by Chhattisgarh. Bhupesh Baghel’s corruption, liquor scam, Mahadev app scam contributed to this results,” Raman Singh, BJP veteran and former Chief Minister, advised reporters.

Pressed for a solution as to who would be the Chief Minister if the social gathering involves energy, Mr Singh stated, “This would be the party’s decision. I never asked for anything, whatever job I was assigned, I did it with all dedication.”

Four exit polls predicted the Congress to cross the bulk mark of 46 (the Chhattisgarh Assembly has 90 seats) by itself, two extra predicted 42-44 and the remaining three gave it greater than 40 every. Exit polls, although, can typically get it fallacious.

Only two of 9 exit polls gave the BJP the haul of 46+ seats it must win the state.

The Congress is banking on the observe file of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who re-built the social gathering within the state after the 2013 Jhiram Ghati Maoist assault that decimated the highest Congress management.

The elections had been held in two phases on November 7 and 17. Voter turnout stood at 76.31 per cent, which was barely decrease than the 76.88 per cent recorded within the 2018 polls.
