Recently, President Donald Trump expressed his intent to label those involved in violent actions at Tesla dealerships as “domestic terrorists.” This statement came during a press conference at the White House, where he responded to questions about rising violence at Tesla showrooms.
A journalist brought up incidents of disorder and asked if such actions should be categorized as terrorism. Trump agreed, stating, “I will do that. I’m going to stop them.” He emphasized that law enforcement would identify and apprehend these individuals, highlighting that they are troublemakers who disrupt not just businesses but also schools and communities.
Earlier in the week, protests against Tesla intensified, with incidents of vandalism reported. Some Tesla owners expressed their discontent by putting bumper stickers on their cars, saying things like, “I bought it before Elon went nuts.” In one notable instance, a protester in Colorado was arrested for spray-painting hateful messages and allegedly using Molotov cocktails against the company.
In response to these violent acts, Trump reassured that his administration would offer protection to all American businesses. He noted his past support for various companies and reiterated that harming a significant American corporation like Tesla would not be tolerated.
On a lighter note, amidst the criticism his administration faces, Trump decided to purchase a Tesla Model S from CEO Elon Musk. He praised Tesla’s innovation and Musk’s dedication, calling it a “great product” and highlighting Musk’s challenges in the industry. During the visit, Trump even got behind the wheel to experience the car firsthand.
As Tesla’s stock prices continue to drop, falling more than 50% since December 2022, the scrutiny on Musk and his policies only grows. The combination of market pressures and protest actions makes this an interesting time for Tesla and its leadership.
