University of Oregon’s Sinicki Picks 20th Overall in 2025 AUSL Draft: A Bright Future Ahead!

EUGENE, Ore. – Paige Sinicki, a standout shortstop, was picked 20th overall in the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Softball League Allocation Draft. She joins the new AUSL Cascade team, set to play in the Pacific Northwest starting in 2026.

“I’m so thankful for the chance to continue my softball journey,” Sinicki shared. “Many people have uplifted and believed in me, and I cherish that every day.”

Sinicki had an exceptional run at Oregon. In her senior year, she led the Ducks to a Big Ten title and their first trip to the Women’s College World Series in seven years. The Ducks finished the season with a 54-10 record.

In 2025, she set personal bests across the board. She played in all 64 games, hitting .376 with 14 doubles, six triples, eight home runs, and 50 RBIs. She also stole 32 bases, ranking her second in the Big Ten for stolen bases and triples.

Defensively, Sinicki excelled too. She led her team with 116 assists and earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. Her career accolades include being a three-time all-defensive team selection and winning the 2024 Pac-12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Graduating with a 3.77 GPA in human physiology, she was also named an Academic All-American in 2025. “I’m eager to grow as an athlete and person while learning from incredible players and coaches,” she said.

Sinicki is the first Oregon player drafted since Allee Bunker in 2023 and the 20th Duck overall to be selected. She joins a list of former Ducks in the AUSL, including national team members like Gwen Svekis.

Also in the draft, assistant coach Sydney Romero was picked by the Oklahoma City Spark. A two-time NCAA champion, Romero brings strong credentials and experience to the AUSL.

As the popularity of women’s sports continues to grow, the AUSL presents a chance for talented players like Sinicki and Romero to make their mark. According to a recent survey, women’s sports viewership has increased by over 60% in the past five years, highlighting an exciting era for female athletes.
