Unlock Your Filmmaking Potential: Apply Now for the 2025 Russo Brothers Italian American Filmmaker Fellowship!

On February 1, the RBIAFF 2025 Fellowship was officially launched. This program welcomes new filmmakers to explore and share stories about the Italian American experience through film.

Filmmakers interested in this fellowship can submit a three-minute sizzle reel. This video should highlight their vision for a film that focuses on Italian American culture, history, language, or community.

From all the submissions, five filmmakers will be chosen and awarded a $10,000 grant each to create a short film. After these films are completed, a committee made up of the fellowship’s founders will select one standout film to win an additional $10,000 and a spot in the AGBO Storytellers Collective.

The AGBO Storytellers Collective is a network for individuals recognized by AGBO’s fellowships. It offers mentorship, guidance, and the chance to collaborate with other rising filmmakers. This community aims to help members grow and achieve their artistic goals.

Since it started in 2017, the fellowship has awarded over $450,000 to more than 50 filmmakers. Last year, filmmaker Joe Picozzi won for his short film, My Kind of People. This film tells the gripping story of a man who learns his father was adopted, forcing him to question his Italian heritage and identity.

The submission window for the RBIAFF 2025 Fellowship opened on February 1, 2025, and will close on February 28, 2025.
