Jayden Spearman Transfers to Lincoln Memorial University
Jayden Spearman, a talented basketball player from Troy, has made an exciting move. He recently announced that he will continue his basketball journey at Lincoln Memorial University.
Spearman’s story began at Charles Henderson High School, where he shined as an All-State and All-Messenger guard. His senior year was impressive—he averaged 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. His hard work helped lead his team to finish as the Class 5A State Runner-Up.
He kicked off his college career at Enterprise State Community College. There, he earned All-Conference honors, averaging 17.7 points per game while shooting an impressive 52.2%. He also contributed with 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals each game.
After a year, he transferred to New Mexico Junior College, where he was ranked among the Top 100 junior college players in the nation. In his sophomore season, he continued improving, averaging 10.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and showing growth in his overall game.
Reflecting on his time at New Mexico, Spearman shared, “It was the best experience of my life. It changed me as a man and helped me grow.” He noted that the support he received played a crucial role in his development, both as a player and a person.
Choosing Lincoln Memorial University came after careful consideration. He had options from Troy, Radford, and New Orleans but felt a strong connection to Lincoln. “The program felt right,” he said. “The coach is going to push me to my full potential. I’m here for summer workouts, preparing for a great season.”
Lincoln Memorial, located in Tennessee, is a Division II program. Interestingly, there’s a link between the school and Troy; Charles Henderson’s Principal, Lise Fayson, is a Lincoln graduate.
As Spearman anticipates his junior season, he is eager to enhance his skills. He expressed a desire to improve his shooting accuracy, decision-making, and overall effort on the court. “I want to become the best version of myself and see how far my basketball career can go,” he said.
As the sports world increasingly highlights player transfers, Spearman’s move reflects a broader trend in college athletics. According to a recent study, over 1,000 NCAA basketball players entered the transfer portal in the past year, seeking better opportunities to showcase their talent.
With Spearman’s dedication and thirst for growth, fans and followers will be eager to see how he contributes to Lincoln Memorial’s team in the upcoming season.
