Monster Hunter Wilds is creating quite a buzz in the gaming world, even before its official launch on February 28, 2025. The folks at Capcom are hard at work, and during the recent IGN Fan Fest, Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Director Yuya Tokuda shared exciting details about what fans can expect. From icy adventures to thrilling monsters, there’s a lot to look forward to!

Introducing the Iceshard Cliffs, a brand-new area that promises frozen landscapes and blizzard-like conditions. If you caught the trailer, you might remember the striking visuals—think ice gorges, ancient ruins, and mysterious caves.

Tokuda describes Iceshard Cliffs as a region full of chilly weather and vibrant colors that reveal themselves as you explore. It’s notable for its dark and dramatic atmosphere, especially in the trailers, but the in-game experience will show its lively side, too.

Of course, the real draw for seasoned hunters is the wildlife. Iceshard Cliffs will host a mix of familiar and new creatures. In addition to returning ice monsters, players can expect to encounter the Hirabami, a flying monster that travels in herds, along with a towering apex monster that promises fierce battles.

The new apex monster, Jin Dahaad, is like a dragon transformed into a chilling sight. Fans of the series will also recognize Gore Magala, making a comeback after its debut in Monster Hunter 4. Tsujimoto notes it was highly voted for in a popularity poll, especially in North America.

For those facing some of the tougher monsters like Arkveld and Nerscylla, Tsujimoto and Tokuda had some pointers. Arkveld, the flagship monster, is a mix of tricky full-strength attacks and wide-ranging moves, making it essential to team up with others using SOS flares.

Tokuda also emphasized the importance of timing your attacks as Arkveld unleashes its might. Large monsters may be vulnerable during their biggest moves, so take advantage of that opportunity to strike hard.

Navigating the skills of Nerscylla, an agile monster with sleep and poison abilities, requires strategy as well. Tsujimoto shared how using items to heal and the newly introduced Seikret mount can provide essential support during battles.

Finally, players excited for post-launch content can look forward to several title updates, including a spring addition featuring the water monster Mizutsune and more surprises later in the year.

In the spirit of the Fan Fest, Capcom has a treat for fans. They’ll be offering the special Hunter Help: Strength Pack, filled with useful items, available starting February 24 through IGN Rewards.
