BIG BEAR, Calif. – Exciting news from Big Bear! Jackie and Shadow, the famous bald eagle couple, have proudly welcomed three eaglets. You can tune in live to see how these amazing parents care for their new little ones.
The first eaglet hatched on Monday night just before 11:30 p.m., a moment that was streamed live during the ABC7 Eyewitness News. The second eaglet made its appearance later that night, while the third hatched early Saturday morning.
Jackie and Shadow are doing a fantastic job of keeping an eye on their eaglets. These little birds, still unnamed, will stay in the nest for about 10 to 14 weeks before they can fly off on their own. The public will soon have the chance to suggest names for them, with local third-graders helping to decide the final names.
Last year, Jackie and Shadow successfully raised an eaglet named Spirit, chosen through a contest organized by Friends of Big Bear Valley.
Experts are excited about this new generation of eaglets. Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, a wildlife expert, noted how remarkable it is that these birds, once endangered, are now thriving. Just a couple of decades ago, they faced the threat of extinction because of difficulties in hatching eggs.
Keep watching to witness the journey of Jackie, Shadow, and their adorable eaglets!
