West Zone received the 2022 Duleep Trophy title after crushing South Zone by a large margin of 294 runs on the fifth and remaining day of the summit showdown on Sunday. Set an inconceivable victory goal of 529, South Zone had been all out for 234 within the first session of the fifth morning, having resumed the day at a precarious 154 for six. Playing outstanding roles in firing the West Zone to the massive win had been Yashasvi Jaiswal (265 in second innings), Sarfaraz Khan (127 in second innings) and the bowlers led by seasoned left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat.
West Zone put up a mammoth 585 for 4 of their second innings after conceding a 57-run first-innings result in their opponents.
Prolific run-scorer Sarfaraz Khan recorded a superb, unbeaten century (127 off 178 balls) to proceed West’s cost after in a single day double centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 265 on the SNR College Cricket Ground.

The West bowlers did the job within the fourth innings with final Ranji Trophy’s highest wicket-taker Shams Mulani selecting up 4 wickets.
Batting for practically 5 periods, West left their opponents flattened, and the South Zone workforce didn’t fairly get well from that.
