Letter to the editor: Opposing viewpoints – Evanston RoundTable

Joseph E. Hill Education Center in Evanston

Reading the Roundtable this morning, I’m struck by two articles on Evanston’s two college districts, every one suggesting an final result heading in the wrong way.

On the one hand, we now have a report about ETHS doing effectively in a nationwide rating of excessive faculties, and on the different, we now have a (very discouraging) evaluation about the contract for the new District 65 superintendent that fails to set any requirements to be met when it comes to pupil progress and achievement. That it might be in violation of state legislation as a consequence is beside the level. The actual situation is that it suggests a faculty board that also doesn’t need to grapple with the severe situation of making ready its college students for highschool … and past.
